THE RACE / 01—09 AUGUST
From Lausanne to Nice. Every stage creates a new fantasy opportunity—and another reason to care about the riders beyond the favourites.
A rolling opening loop with four classified climbs and an uphill arrival in Lausanne. Positioning and repeat efforts should matter as much as pure finishing speed.
The first clear chance for the sprinters, but five classified climbs arrive through the middle of the stage. Fast finishers still need a team that can control a rolling route.
The Col de la Faucille creates an early selection before a long, uneven run toward Poligny. Strong climbers and durable all-rounders have several paths to points.
A short individual race against the clock. There are no categorised climbs; pacing, aerodynamics and time-trial form should provide the clearest fantasy signal.
Eight classified climbs make this a relentless day in the Beaujolais hills. Breakaway riders and repeat climbers can score before the late ascent of Mont Brouilly.
Six categorised climbs create a long attritional stage, with the Col de Lalouvesc the central test. Versatile climbers and aggressive teams should stay relevant deep into the day.
The first summit finish and the defining GC test. Three early classified climbs precede the 15.7-kilometre ascent of Mont Ventoux at 8.8%.
The longest stage trends toward a fast finish in Nice, but four category-four climbs create opportunities for a breakaway and can unsettle tired sprint teams.
Four laps around Nice repeatedly expose the Col d'Èze. The final passage is shorter and steeper, making the last stage a genuine opportunity to reshape the overall standings.
